Examinez attentivement votre appareil. Fais-le pivoter si tu peux, et remarque tous les diff\u00e9rents mat\u00e9riaux qu\u2019il contient.  <\/p>\n<p>Peut-\u00eatre avez-vous un \u00e9tui en caoutchouc avec un insert en plastique ABS dur, un cache-\u00e9cran d\u2019ordinateur \u00e0 fort impact, un bo\u00eetier de t\u00e9l\u00e9phone en plastique incrust\u00e9 d\u2019interrupteurs ou de boutons en plastique, ou un portable avec un dessus en plastique, un \u00e9cran en plastique composite et un clavier assorti de couleur d\u00e9cal\u00e9e. Tout est en plastique, mais en m\u00eame temps notablement diff\u00e9rent. C\u2019est parce <em>qu\u2019il<\/em> s\u2019agit de diff\u00e9rents types de plastique que vous voyez \u2013 tous m\u00e9lang\u00e9s en un seul article de consommation.  <\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est un gros probl\u00e8me du point de vue du recyclage pour plusieurs raisons diff\u00e9rentes, la plus importante \u00e9tant <em>l\u2019homog\u00e9n\u00e9it\u00e9<\/em> : les plastiques sont difficiles \u00e0 distinguer les uns des autres. Non seulement ils se ressemblent tous relativement, mais ils ont tous un poids similaire. Et \u00e7a rend les plastiques difficiles \u00e0 trier.  <\/p>\n<p>Pourquoi est-ce un probl\u00e8me, vous demandez-vous? Tout est une question de chimie. <\/p>\n<p>Vous voyez, non seulement les plastiques de d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques sont difficiles \u00e0 s\u00e9parer, mais ils ne peuvent pas \u00eatre recycl\u00e9s ensemble. Elles fondent \u00e0 diff\u00e9rentes temp\u00e9ratures, se contaminent mutuellement, et se transforment m\u00eame en cendres. En bref, on ne peut pas simplement d\u00e9verser tous nos d\u00e9chets plastiques dans un immense creuset. Surtout que beaucoup contiennent des retardateurs de flamme canc\u00e9rig\u00e8nes \u2013 le genre de choses que les gens ne veulent pas avoir \u00e0 la main.   <\/p>\n<p>Les fabricants <em>aiment<\/em> le plastique parce que c\u2019est peu co\u00fbteux, et on peut construire presque n\u2019importe quoi avec. Mais cela se traduit par un autre probl\u00e8me sur le plan du recyclage : il n\u2019y a pas de v\u00e9ritable incitatif \u00e9conomique \u00e0 r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer les plastiques. Et la catastrophe environnementale vers laquelle cela m\u00e8ne avance trop lentement pour que la plupart des gens puissent s\u2019en rendre compte.  <\/p>\n<p>La pollution par les plastiques ressemble \u00e0 un raz-de-mar\u00e9e au ralenti, qui vient tout juste d\u2019appara\u00eetre \u00e0 l\u2019horizon. Il ne faudra pas longtemps avant que les gens commencent \u00e0 commenter la taille de la vague et \u00e0 discuter en passant de l\u2019ampleur des d\u00e9g\u00e2ts qu\u2019elle pourrait causer. Mais ce sont nos petits-enfants qui en h\u00e9riteront le premier v\u00e9ritable impact. Et je trouve ironique que, tout comme un vrai raz-de-mar\u00e9e, la vague \u00e9cologique caus\u00e9e par la contamination plastique d\u00e9truise d\u2019abord nos c\u00f4tes physiques.   <\/p>\n<p>Beaucoup d\u2019entre nous s\u2019inqui\u00e8tent de la d\u00e9sertification de notre plan\u00e8te. Personnellement, je m\u2019int\u00e9resse davantage \u00e0 la <em>plastification <\/em>\u2014 l\u2019effet cumulatif de la contamination par les polym\u00e8res dans notre \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me. <\/p>\n<p>Depuis 25 ans, la Chine importe la majeure partie de notre plastique de d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques. Ils avaient peu de pr\u00e9occupations concernant l\u2019utilisation d\u2019outils industriels pour recycler la technologie du 21e si\u00e8cle \u2013 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que des gens commencent \u00e0 mourir, bien s\u00fbr. Maintenant qu\u2019ils ont v\u00e9cu de premi\u00e8re main les effets d\u2019une pollution intense, la Chine a interdit l\u2019importation de d\u00e9chets domestiques depuis 2018 \u2013 y compris les polym\u00e8res mixtes de d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques qui repr\u00e9sentent 51% du flux de d\u00e9chets plastiques de la plan\u00e8te. On est sur le point de se retrouver coinc\u00e9s avec un m\u00e9lange de mat\u00e9riaux potentiellement toxiques qui n\u2019ont aucune valeur. Et l\u2019ONU qualifie cela de crise plan\u00e9taire.    <\/p>\n<p>Pour aggraver les choses, la Chine a maintenant commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 acheter des polym\u00e8res vierges aupr\u00e8s des fabricants am\u00e9ricains pour compenser le volume perdu par les plastiques recycl\u00e9s. Environ 185 milliards de dollars ont \u00e9t\u00e9 investis jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent. Bonne nouvelle pour l\u2019\u00e9conomie am\u00e9ricaine, mauvaise nouvelle pour l\u2019environnement.  <\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 tout cela est simple, bien que les implications soient incroyablement complexes.  <strong><em>Nous devons commencer \u00e0 produire des produits enti\u00e8rement recyclables.<\/em><\/strong>  Cela peut \u00eatre une t\u00e2che monumentale \u2013 une mission \u00e9pique qui va \u00e0 l\u2019encontre de l\u2019\u00e9conomie moderne \u2013 mais elle a une premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape tr\u00e8s simple : il faut commencer \u00e0 en parler.<\/p>\n<p>Vous vous int\u00e9ressez \u00e0 des solutions contre la pollution?
